FUMSA is a nongovernment nonprofit organization of medical students in Uganda. Its membership is made of all medical students in Uganda. The aim of FUMSA is to have a medical students’ body, responsive to the health needs of the country in collaboration with other national medical students’ associations, the International Federation of Medical Students Association and the Ministry of Health.
Federation of Uganda Medical Students’ Associations FUMSA is member organization of IFMSA which is an international body for medical students recognized by the United Nations and the World Health Organization. FUMSA, once a candidate National Member Organization of IFMSA approved as granted by the 59th G.A of the IFMSA in Montreal, Canada. And now a full member as of the 61st IFMSA G.A. It was formed in 2009 to promote, preserve and safeguard the interests and welfare of its members; FUMSA now has over 3,000 member medical students hailing from the four member Medical Students’ Associations MSAs. It is constituted of the executive board and the six standing committees, SCOME, SCOPE, SCOPH, SCORE, SCORP and SCORA.
Though amidst challenges we are carrying out a number of activities including some IFMSA interventions like; NCD day, WOA-SDH, and still planning for the WAD.
